Theticals that are Hypo

So it is the talk of the town. For once, a major political candidate has come out in support of the LGBT community with plenty of time for quite a bit of things to go right or wrong. President Obama coming out and saying that homosexual marriage should be allowed was a milestone. President Bill Clinton came out showing his support when he was up for re-election, but it went so under the radar because of other issues, and he wasn’t vocal about it really, that it was all brushed under the carpet. The LGBT community was kind of put off by this I could only think and imagine. But now we have a candidate whose election can be made or broken strictly on this alone.
Many people are talking about it. Why? Because homosexuality and gay marriage is one of the major hot topics of this years elections. But, as was mentioned before, there is only so much theorizing one can do. We don’t know what effect, good or bad this will have. If you support gay marriage, this is awesome and may have re-inspired, or further inspired, your fervor towards President Obama. If you oppose gay marriage, this isn’t awesome and is just pushing you away. The true results of whether this helped or hurt him has yet to be told and won’t be told until later. And to boot, this is not the make or break for his campaign. If President Obama fails, he will fail for many reasons – this would just be one on the list of many. If President Obama succeeds, it is not because of the LGBT community and pro-same sex couples came out to vote. It may be a factor, but not a sole factor.
I am just shocked, like everyone else, that he came out with this. I was definitely not expecting this. But we will see how this goes down the road.
